The stimulant effect of energy beverages is mainly credited to the caffeine they include. Numerous energy beverages also include other active ingredients that may boost the tonic impacts of these caffeinated drinks. Among these ingredients is guarana. Guarana is a climbing plant belonging to the Amazon whose seeds contain approximately 4 times the amount of caffeine discovered in coffee beans. The mix of other natural chemicals included in guarana seeds is thought to increase the stimulant impacts of guarana over caffeine alone. Yet, despite the growing usage of guarana as an additive in energy drinks, and a burgeoning market for it as a dietary supplement, the science examining guarana and how it affects other dietary ingredients is lacking. To value the stimulant results of guarana and other natural items, a straightforward model to examine their physiological residential or commercial properties is needed. The planarian offers such a system. The locomotor activity and convulsive reaction of planarians with substance exposure has been shown to provide an excellent system to measure the effects of drug stimulation, dependency and withdrawal. To determine the stimulant results of guarana we studied how it modified the locomotor activity of the planarian types Dugesia tigrina.
